Campaign

The patients and volunteers in Songs for Christies, are a highly organised team which operates to the same basic formula to maximise takings for charity.

We must say that Marks and Spencer have been immensely helpful in the work we’ve done and their approach to charity work is refreshingly altruistic.

Of particular help has been John Heedon, retired Commercial Manager of Marks and Spencer in Bolton who, as well as letting us use a plug socket and space at the front of the store several times, has even invited our singing roadshow inside the store to sing as part of the store’s Christmas festivities. We have also had offers of help from Marks and Spencer in Blackpool (which we haven’t yet had the opportunity to take advantage of).

The Marks and Spencer branch at Preston also let us set up our roadshow right outside and we raised what was then a record of £2605.95 in a day. We have beaten this when we held another event outside the Marks and Spencer branch in Bolton, raising £3005.78, this with the help of Jenny Jones, successor to John Heedon.
