We have full permission from Christies, council permission in the area where the events take place, P.A.T certificates for the electrical equipment, and full public liability insurance. If requested by a council, we also obtain entertainment licenses.
Risk Assessment
- With regard to the safety of participants and the general public, we take all possible precautions from the moment of arrival at the event to the end of the event and beyond - until all equipment is loaded and removed
- We cordon off an area with banner tape and brightly colored collection buckets. All the equipment used is then contained within this area.
- When setting up and dismantling the gear we take great care and keep the public at a distance. No dismantling takes place until all the power has been disconnected at source and all leads have been gathered in.
- We do not set up too close to entrances or exits so not to cause access problems or direct sound intrusion.
- Once the electrical gear is in place we attach all the wires and tape them down. With the exception of the mains power extension, there are no trailing wires outside of the enclosure and those that trail within the enclosure are taped down. The mains wire is only used where we back on to a retail outlet where we have permission to use their power and we use an emergency circuit breaker (RCD). This mains wire is taped up against the wall/window where there is little or no access over it by the public.
We ensure that the sound level is in keeping with the area we are working in. - The singers use mainly radio microphones with the occasionally use of a wired microphone (used only as a back up)
- When using generators they are contained within the cordoned off area with the exhaust facing away from the passing public.
- Singers alternate collecting and singing with regular recreation breaks.
- We generally set up around 9.30am and finish around 3.30pm.
- We move vehicles in and around the area only within designated times.
